As Kexin entered the bathroom, I waited in front of the computer screen. There was no scream, no words—only an unusual silence. After about ten seconds or so, the bathroom door finally opened. As it did, I quickly leaned closer to the computer screen, my heart tightening with tension. The door opened only a crack, and I saw Kexin’s flushed face peeking out from behind it. Her movements seemed mostly normal, but there was a subtle hint of panic. However, as soon as the door closed behind her, before she could even make it back to the bedroom, she stumbled and leaned back against the wall—the wall between the bedroom and the bathroom doors.…
